Promoting Inclusion and Inspirations for Teaching Music is designed to promote inclusivity through the powerful medium of music. Through engaging initiatives and educational modules, this online course aims to illuminate the Musical traditions that shape our Nation’s unique identity. This comprehensive course delves into the breadth of Music, spanning from Ancient civilisations, Africa, our own rich cultural musical heritage to modern Irish Society, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Music. Aimed at all primary class levels, it uses songs, rhythm, and imaginative musical activities to celebrate diversity, encourage collaboration, and foster a sense of belonging. Participants will engage with the five musical strands, explore cultural traditions from around the world, express themselves through sound, and co-create lessons that emphasize unity and mutual respect. The course invites teachers of all backgrounds and abilities to take part, creating a classroom atmosphere where every pupil feels valued and heard. By learning through music, pupils build empathy, boost their confidence, and gain a deeper appreciation for the rich cultural diversity present in today’s schools.

Key features include:

1. Interactive Educational Resources: Avail of a range of multimedia platforms, interactive websites, and immersive experiences to make Music accessible and engaging for learners of all ages and class levels. Participants will be made aware of the Music strands, focussing on creating a positive inclusive school climate and atmosphere in keeping with National priorities. In module one we examine the strand unit of listening.

2. Exploring the impact of various epochs on our Nation’s development, by offering essential insights, resources, and methodologies to effectively convey Ireland’s Musical past to pupils. In module two we assess the strand unit of responding.

3. SSE and Curriculum Integration: Advocate for the integration of Music into the school Curriculum at all class levels, ensuring that students develop a comprehensive understanding of their national identity and musical heritage.

4. Cultural Heritage: We explore sites of historical significance, monuments, artifacts, and oral traditions that contribute to the collective memory of Ireland/Éire. In module four we assess the strand unit of Composing. This module integrates innovative teaching techniques and digital tools, dedicated to showcasing Irish Music.

5. Celebrating our recent 100 years: We examine a collection of the major Musical events in the past 100 years and their impact on Social Change, fostering a sense of Irish pride for pupils. In this final module we examine the strand unit of Performing.
